If you're ordering powered lenses, you need one number per eye. Here's how to find it.
Where to look
Your eye test report will have a row for each eye. OD or R means right eye. OS or L means left eye. The number you need sits under SPH (sphere).
What the number means
A minus number (−2.50) means you are short-sighted — distance is blurry. This is what colour contact lenses correct, and what we stock, from −0.50 to −6.00.
A plus number (+1.75) means you are long-sighted. We don't currently stock plus powers. Message us and we'll tell you when we do.
Glasses power vs lens power
For powers weaker than −4.00, your glasses number is usually the same as your lens number. Above −4.00, the lens power is often slightly lower because the lens sits directly on your eye. If your power is −4.25 or stronger, send us your prescription and we'll confirm the right number rather than guessing.
Two eyes, two numbers
Most people have slightly different powers in each eye. Tell us both. There is no extra charge for a mixed pair.
CYL and AXIS
If your prescription shows values under CYL and AXIS, you have astigmatism and need toric lenses. Standard colour lenses will feel blurry. Message us before ordering.
Still unsure?
Send a photo of your prescription to us on WhatsApp. We'll read it and set the powers on your order for you.
